Good Shepherd College of Education, a self supporting teacher training college, was founded by P.George, M.A M.Ed., D.S.M., the recipient of Dr.S.Radhakrishnan Award, Correspondent, Secretary and Managing Trustee of Geoby Educational Trust which manages the college. It is an offshoot of Good Shepherd Matriculation Higher Secondary school. It is founded with the aim of producing teachers with outstanding ability. It is located in Holy Cross College Road, Nagercoil-4, Kanyakumari District, South India. It lies in the main bus route just four Kilometers away from the Anna Bus Stand of Nagercoil Municipality.

Being a co-educational institution, it had an annual intake of 100 students and well qualified faculty members. The college is recognized by the NCTE, Bangalore and is affiliated to Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. From 2015-16 the course period is extended to two years and the annual intake in the college is 50 students. Earlier, the college was affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and from 2008 it is affiliated to (TNTEU).

Every morning the college starts its academic activities with the college prayer song, the recitation of a Thirukkural by the Student Teachers and moral instructions including the Thought for the day by the principal. Ample opportunities are provided for co-curricular and extracurricular activities also. In order to facilitate better learning, the college has provision for computer Lab equipped with educational software and internet with browsing facilities open to the students. The college has a well equipped Language lab for the purpose of helping the budding teachers to acquire better pronunciation skills. The other equipments like over head projector, LCD and other Educational Technologies are provided to facilitate the young teachers for experincing the modern trends in teaching. Annual seminars and workshops in each subject are arranged and eminent scholars and experts in each field participate in them. The college has an infrastructure with ultramodern facilities. The Library has a good collection of books related to education.

Separate hostel facilities are available for men and women students. Strict discipline is maintained in the hostel. Round the clock electricity facilities are available. There is a store canteen in the campus for the convenience of the teacher trainees.
